Private conversations with Alan Stepansky, 2010.
When asked his opinion on these three illustrious conductors, Stepansky spoke about the amazing opportunity he had to play under such a terrific musician as Bernstein, even though the conductor was very ill and soon after ended his conducting career. As for Zubin Mehta, Alan says that he embodied the joy of music making and was always ready to tour and explore new avenues, while Kurt Mazur had musical integrity and had a great impact on the orchestra.
