As an added bonus for boaters, each BookletChart comes with excerpts from the Coast Pilot for the area covered by the chart. These notes are provided on a single page that includes emergency contact information. The Coast Pilot is a nautical reference that provides information relevant to boaters. A company called Magic Instinct Software (MIS) specializes in electronic mapping and has extensive experience working with nautical charts. Recently the company posted an application online that overlays satellite imagery from Google Earth on NOAA nautical chart. The Office of Coast Survey intends to update the BookletCharts on a weekly basis using the Notices to Mariners system that is already familiar to many mariners.
