So true and so pertinent for those old proud, inexperienced dinosaurs who stopped actively learning twenty annuals antecedent because they yet understand anything. The day we stop learning is the day we start working backwards.
"Am I genuinely learning (changing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], accustoming, improving, act another, creating assorted outcomes) or am I merely exposing myself to more and more information that I typically don't use?"
If the most desirable consequence of learning is positive change (I'm talking about learning in narration to personal growth here), then it would seem that numerous of us have learned nought for a long time. We have read lots,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], heard lots, watched lots and learned nought. Could it be that many of us read self-help paperbacks, trawl websites such for this one, heed seminars, listen to CDs, watch DVDs and then do nought with the procured (and often, paid for) information? Could we be people who don't actually learn much at all? If results are a reflection of what we've learned, then some of us definitely need to luster up our 'learning skills'.
v class="clear">
Memorising a entire bunch of matter ain't learning; that's memorising. A good gathering dupe yet ain't gonna alteration your reality as the better. Some folk narrate motivational crap always da
Too much info, too little learning
It's about having a new comprehending, viewpoint and mindset. It's about changing, evolving, growing, adapting and creating better outcomes. It's about doing different to establish different. It's about perusing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hearing, watching and then applying! Doing something with that information to build positive change. It's about taking the methodology and making it a reality in your life.
You, only better.
Or does it?
It's been said many times that we live in the information age and without doubt, we do. The Internet has made sure of that. If you want way to information about pretty much anything, then it's only a quest engine press away. The virtual classroom of 2008 is bigger than ever and allows us to learn like never before.
Surely more information equals more knowledge right?
"But Craig, I read and study, I attend workshops, I do courses and I even put your treatises up on my fridge." Well that's nice, but do you consistently and diligently apply that information and create different results in your life? Hello? Are you there?
Well you might think so but the reply is, not necessarily. In truth, no often. Curiously, some of us seem beautiful resolved to not learn - just take a look approximately by what's going on in our very educated, clever world at the moment. Or perhaps even take a glance in the mirror.
So when it comes to creating the new and improved version of you (you, only better), what is genuine learning about?
One of my favourite quotes about learning:
Learning equals Change
Does reading self-help stuff (books, websites, journals, dailies), audition (motivators, preachers, teachers, CDs), watching (DVDs, Webinars) and attending (classes, workshops, seminars, campus) necessarily translate to learning? No. Sometimes it just translates to... reading, audition, watching and attending. Does sitting in countless workshops, lessons and programs year in, year out, necessarily equate to personal growth? No. Sometimes it just equates to more personal debt. After all, personal development can be priceless. We all know people who consume self-help substance voraciously but rarely learn everything. Their life reality never seems to change and nor do they. Sometimes we are those people.
If you're a normal to this site or sites favor this, then there's a fair become namely you're all approximately ego improvement; creating a current and cultivated edition of you. A better life and a better you. The answer you need to query yourself is:
It's in the doing that we learn.
"In times of change the learners shall inherit the world, meantime the learned detect themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a earth that no longer exists."
Eric Hoffer.
